tha weekend

friday night i liz and i had a date at one of my favorite sushi places in ny cube 63 -63 clinton st near rivington 212.228.6751 this place aint the cheapest but its always quality! its a tiny spot so call ahead or get lucky like we did. they did however ask me if we could eat and be done in an hour lol. fortunately liz and i are both: in, eat (quick), and be done type gals. the tool that sat next to us had a date with some gal and wasn't so keen on the request when the hostess asked him the same question; he did not stop talking about it the whole time they sat there.

then we ventured to fat baby 112 rivington (at essex) 212.533.1888 fer some drinkin and dancin. kate met us and as usual we were there around 9/9:30 and got our designated booth bc "cool" people don't come out til about 11pm and then they all stnd there w no seats lookin like chodes. we tired of the fat baby and walked around to find ella 9 ave a (at houston) 212.777.2230 i wrote about this place a while ago in the winter bc m and i went to a going away for one of his friends and i could tell i would like the spot and wanted to go back. its a beautiful space with a 1920's theme.  it's my new favorite spot for sure. amazing dj, decent mix of people and decent drinks! it was a blast and i like the way the place is set up. i danced a wee bit hard and drank a wee too much and therefore the night was a success.

saturday i woke up hangover free!? and had brunch at dizzy's (park slope) 511 9th street near 8th ave 718. 499.1966 my friend sarah works here and i caught her for a quick hello where i am sure she despised me for enjoying a saturday while she slaved away. later we walked all around brooklyn and went to the dog park on grand ave and kent. a tiny little park right on the east river. stopped in marlow and daughters 95 brodwat (at berry) 718.388.5700 where i gazed lovingly at all the pork products, grabbed a coffee at some spot on broadway near kent ave and wandered into a really overpriced antique shop....

later i finally dined at a spot i have been meaning to try for a whileaqua santa 556 driggs (and n 7th) 718.384.9695 am ashamed that i have lived in the hood for 3 years and had not been there yet. they have a great outdoor/indoor patio that is so inviting and every time i walk by i always think i want to go- glad we decide to. its amazing food and service.we met the owner who is a doll of a man that likes to make not funny jokes :) great food and good people (james) were in tow along with some comp'd grapa after dinner. this stuff is lethal and delicious- tastes like a mix between tequilla and whisky. we all shared an amazing brink oven zza as an app along with some delicious eggplant mixture with melted mozz. all dishes were mouth watering. m had a giant fish (with teeth entact!) and james had an amazing chicken stuffed w spinach and cheeses in a cream sauce. i had the chicken catch-a-tori. (i think this is how it should be spelled).

sunday was brunch at brooklyn label 180 franklin st 718.389.2806 they seemed to NOt be on their game this day. my eggs were runny and the hostess had a breakdown after some dick-penis-head cursed her out. the pork atop the chili colarado (which they are known for and is usually delicious) was skimpy. then i went to visit liz at work (brooklyn fox 132 n 5th at bedford 718.599.1555) amazing bra's and panties here! and then it was off to the city to get a "haircut". i put this in quotes bc i never let anyone cut my hair. don't recall when i was traumatized but i was at some point bc i won't ever let anyone change it no matter how much i do want a change! ahhhh. i am annoying. i am considering going back this week and actually letting her CUT it bc i think i like what she did?! but then again i am kind of feeling like a 4th stooge. bang thingy's are kind of undecided at this point? we shall see.... i ventured into top shop on broadway. everyone's talkin about this place? why? i have no idea! super cheap made stuff for not super cheap? lame. then i walked to union sq and back to bklyn where i am content. liz and i later had dinner at lobo 218 court street (near warren) 718.858.7739 liz and i both rad about it in alex's fav spots in cobble hill (alex being one of the real (lame) housewives from nyc). ha! it was good tex mex and we stuffed ourselves silly. then had some tasti-d! upon feeling like i may explode we went home to watch 'last chance harvey' with dustin hoffman and the sweet gal i love that can do no wrong (except this movie) emma thompson. i give it 1.5 stars. it was a cute idea but just didn't need to get made. thankfully liz watched w me and i did not have to ask m who would've added it to my tally of crap chick flicks that he is holding against me for ammunition i am sure. to do what with i can't say, but i know he is!

*side notes*
+ somewhere in here i made sugar cookies that were ok. i used my moms homemade frosting recipe but skimped on the cookies and used pillsbury store bought :( also just realized the frosting leftovers are in m's fridge (oops)

+ danced with a nice african fella from ghana who asked me "where i learned how to shake my hips like that?" makes a white girl from tennessee proud!

+ i woke up around 6 ish this am and was so cozy and happy that it was sunday- then my alarm went off an hour later and i almost cried. no idea why i thought it was still the weekend :( wishful thinkin'.

happy monday
