when you have a go to restaurant spot and it pisses you off one night- i reallly pisses you off. i suggested a spot and went to dinner w my friend brian and he ordered the special and it was garabge! now i owe him a dinner! gross- caracas ticked me off good last night! hate that!

i have been really lazy w my posting- must be summer fever....

this is my nightstand

i accidently took a pic of it last night (??) but when i looked today i decided i like the pic and my nightstand and so here it is. perhaps it's the way the lighting came out? or maybe the crooked lampshade?? also may need a little dusting no?? good lord. i'm a mess.

refusal to work monday

still in weekend mode and bc of the cloudy weather that made me want to sleep in sooo badly, i am not yet awake. 

the weekend was again filled w food/drink. 2 unusual drinks i might add- sake! and jalapeno infused tequila (which liz deemed a "dick burrito"). don't ask me how she knows what a dick burrito tastes like!! i wasn't the one that said it! friday drinking ensued around 7pm at the gutter which is so much better than brooklyn bowl in my opinion. it's a chilled out hole in the wall, a good size and dope old school feel. liz won one game and i won another w a score of 99 (99, HOW annoying). we drank and ordered a pie and some moz sticks to the bar (yes that's how we roll) and made our way to royal oak which clearly could not be a duplicate from the weekend prior. it was one of those forced nights where you really want to have a grand ole time and no one else is in the mood to dance etc. so we bailed around 1 and it was back to cook.

saturday we finally went to  KOO japanese on metropolitan right next to the knitting factory. sipped on a sake called damon slayer- i assume this translates to demon(??) (served cold)... was really tasty. then off to union pool which was surprisingly quiet and playing some decent tunes (from 10-10:30 and then it became it's usual scene). we had fun none the less and then walked to a new spot called night of joy. this spot is really quite nice: pool table, cozy, outside area (when they are able to open the roof area soon) and girls that do tricks with fire and their own hair! this is where i enjoyed 3 jalapeno infused tequila drinks (w black currant and lime). don't worry- i shared so i was still able to stand when i departed.

sunday was brunch at the trusted teddy's (mmmmm) and then driving around w liz, grocery, and couch! i baked a cake last night (this is what happens when liz takes me to the grocery) and didn't even have any as i was to full from chips and cheese dip etc ;( i awoke this am to see my poor cake FORKED to death (liz- can you not cut a small slice!!??)

just realized next monday is a holiday and i have off!

GOOD MORNING

haven't gone for drinks on a school night and felt this good in a while. am convinced it's my miracle cure (goody's powder) mentioned below in a prev post- hence i have been goin out a lil too much recently.... F it let the summer begin! the powder i mention isn't illegal but it still gets you thru any type of brutal drinking night esp when you take it right before bed. this stuff cannot be found in the north east so... BET i won't order an arsenal online [TODAY]. 

finally went to matchless and have now discovered yet another prettttty damn good bklyn bar. this place has it all. foosball (ass whippage last night- well, actually i won 1 of 3) :( music performance space that opens up into an outdoor and very pleasant garden type space... at least i think it was garden-like? i was a wee bit in lala land ;) a great bar and a few tucked away spaces inside so you don't feel cramped. loved it! wed night is apparently karaoke and boy were the hipsters out in full force and into their tunes. i'm not hating- it was pretty rad and a couple folks were kind of aiiight. the lady gaga had to be my fav performance.

good times good times

this weekend was pretty filled w gt's. friday was a hang over frm v's b day and was worthless at work! friday eve was spent w lara cruising tha streets of ny gangster style! thai and 16 handles (which i am on punishment from since i have had it 3-4 times last week!:( 

sat was photo shoot day w sue, lisa, liz and lara on location at 460 manhattan and beyond. i also discovered and finally had 5 leaves (TWICE) this weekend! amazing! props to the owner who used to work at dumont on union ave when liz and i first moved to bk. the food is incredible. bloody marys are perfect and the weather was great so it was double the fun! sat evening we tore the town up starting at my moon for dinner w the amazing jill and neel of the beloved bandler clan! they are possibly the coolest and sweetest and most attentive ;) and amazing folks- their kid is gonna have some great rents (my bets are on a boy). then we ventured to sweet spot on bedford where chrissy met up-- over to hotel something or another which is meh and pretentious anyhow so we blew that stand and went to k&m where the music was pretty good but the crowd was slim. we then walked to maracuja on grand which is one of my fav new holes in the wall and has a great back patio. from there we convinced a crew to go back to k&m and boogie. we tore up that dance floor! AND then managed to go to royal oak (which i have pictured above and looks WAAAAy different in the light than i remember) its a great spot and the dj payed a rellay good random mix of tunes (i think) alls i know is that i danced til about 4am. good stuff!

needless to say- sunday was a bit hurting but managed to crawl to 5 leaves again - love their decor as well (top photo). and then it was sofa time w larlar and oprah and a new found obsesh w justin bieber! refuse to comment on the food that i imbibed sunday due to hang over am ashamed!

a packet of goody's before you crawl into bed will save you every time!! only prob??!! i CAN'T find it in ny and must have faye ship it to me from nashville! no clue why its elusive here but must have a full stock at ALL times! now they have orange- the "plain" is wretched but wellll worth it! happy b day v!

ah man it's the little things!

most of the time it takes very little to excite me- like the new kleenex disposable hand towels that now reside in my bathroom! the packaging is not annoying- it's quite plain and not a bad color, which matches my bathroom "motif" rather well! get some! they are sanitary and nothing grosses me out more than a terry-cloth towel that you and your guests use repeatedly when washing their hands!

this weekend was chilly and WINDY for the most part aside frm one day at kent park for a bit (but was still in long sleeves). weekend was pretty chill and packed with [bad] eating (veracruz and fabiannes of course and gasp- dominos last night). nothing too exciting to report there however today's "groupon" in my inbox was worth reading over. it's a 50% off for strip tease exercising classes. this one may get used kids. after v convinced me to sign up for the daily emails by saying that every once in a while they send offers that interest... today was the day! lara- grab your stilettos we're goin strippin'. at least we can dance for each other :)- happy monday folks.

ode to weekends

by the time friday comes around i am near ready to explode. if we didn't have weekends i am not quite sure how we'd function... it's like the absolute breaking point- by the time you've worked 8:30-6:30 mon-fri you need the 2 days to sleep but alas, i plan to use them to my full advantage sun, drinks, food and dancin. so happy friday- and even happier that i have a meeting in the city at 3:30 and won't be sitting at my desk all day!

nothing quite hits home like this

it's so surreal to think about what has taken place in nashville. it's so weird to see the news and hear all kinds of people that are close to you be affected by something that doesn't even quite seem real. this is stuff i see on the news- not things that happen in my hometown. it's pretty devastating BUT nashville is strong and we are all neighbors and treat each other accordingly so i am confident that we will get to business quick and help one another out!

feel a bore today and summer fever is kicking in big time! i just want to be outside. am thankful that al my friends and family are ok after nashville's insane floods and weather conditions!

daily candy sent me this email telling me to buy this bathing suit and i just may. this chick designs them in her house in bklyn and i love the looks of them. classy and pinup. 

also found a fun bar this weekend in my neighborhood. that's what i love abt ny- there's always a good bar or good food to be found and sometimes even some all around good people. k&m bar on roebling and n 8th was a good space and a decent dj.

ONE of the best parts of this weekend? lara is home and i would not go to jfk for a pickup for anyone else in this world- maybe not even family! ;0 welcome HOME bambam!
