'taken' to congee village

last night for vanessa's b day (happy birthday yesterday vanessa) we went to congee village- 100 allen st near delancy 212.941.1818 this please is badass! i have always wanted to go. it a cheesy chinese restaurant on steroids. there's a huge water feature/fish tank under the stairs where you go up to your table and a bar with drinks so cheap i have dubbed this spot the place to go get sloppy upon starting your fri/sat (any) night. drinks are all $5 (martini's, jager, vodka's...) the food was pretty damn good as far as i am concerned! i had what you see here:  

one of everything. seriously we ordered enough for even me between the 15 of us -there's always something extra i want that doesn't get ordered when i dine w a small group but we had everything from veggies, scallion pancakes, 

beef chow fun, garlic chicken (yum), and snails. yea, take one guess as to who ordered that. i had one too, blah a sandy chewy piece of what kept being described as "tastes like broccoli" i'll take broccoli thanks.... then we had kate's famous cupcakes that were homemade- when vince asked kate if they were homemade she retorted "yes, they were made in my home." they were damn good! AND so was the banana wafer cream pudding from magnolia bakery-401 bleeker st 212.462.2572 that vince and james brought! holy shit. this stuff is some seriousness. i talk smack about magnolias overrated status and the lines and the nazi style with which the place is run, bur for this pudding-type fluffyness of love in a cup...i'd easily wait in an hour line like a shmuck!

then i managed to stay awake (prob bc m yelled at me at one

 point when my eyes closed) for the movie 'taken' with liam neeson. it was actually pretty good and gave me one measly point back on my movie picks scale i believe bc m like it too (no matter what he says). liam is a for real o.g. in this flick. kickin' all kinds of asses all over the place. he's an ex us gov't operative of sorts who's daughter gets taken by some pretty serious foreign shysters to be sold as a sex slave to even more serious pervs with tons of cash.... sounds pretty blah? it's not, the movie is fast paced and entertaining.
