+ excited to go to the beach this weekend, even more excited for fireworks
+ had a fun weekend drinking and spending way too much!
+ i miss chris even tho i just spent the weekend with him
+ i'm hungry and eating little to no carbs this week in hopes that i'll feel a lil less blubbery
+ someone i like a real whole lot brought me this gelato treat and its the best stuff ever, not to mention its great packaging
+ i watched the BET awards last night
+ i ate way too much vinnies pizza last eve but it was so damn good
+ i'm leaving at 5 today

allllmost friday. the weeks pain me at this point, this rain blows and I left my lights on AGAIN for the second time this month and had to get jumped this am. barf. I also wanted good weather for chad's b day party tonight and I am NOT getting my way today! here's a pic of the beginning of the acorn cake, gotta go home to frost and shape later! I wold love to bake all day and get paid to do so.

scott pilgrim vs the world
finally finished 'scott pilgrim vs the world' last night!! can I say how I FUN this flick is? totally rad and original, with what I think was cast really well. I happen to love michael cera, any culkin, j schwartzman and the rest of the characters did such a good job of being the weirdo friend freaks they were supposed to be. the sound fx were on point and the entire random video game-esque/real life scenario was a great call. it could have been lame but it all worked for me! :)

play time!
I so enjoy summer weekends where I feel a lot less of a piece of garbo and I get out and play! fyi >am writing today's post in my email to copy paste into blogger because my boss is in and lingering in his office behind me. soooo stealth. ok so what's there to report? friday night was felicia's b day gathering at spritzenhaus which was jam packed w hipsters galore and andrew and his wife were thoroughly amused (and documented things on facebook as if they were at the zoo taking pics of the monkeys)! at least 3 dudes were there shirtless with only overalls (or onezies as aletha calls them) all of which partook in the wheeling out of a piano in the street and an "impromptu" band performance. hip as hell. yes thats a giant piece of meat and a tiny bun that aletha is enjoying. can't believe i didn't eat! that's a first. made it home around 1 which was pretty good since I started around 6pm.
saturday I had the consistently tasty brunch at habitat and equally as good hand made bloody mary (my moi) @ habitat and then a nap and movie before bowling b day extravaganza @ melody lanes in park slope. wow. this p;ace it right outta 1985 and RAD. the bartender… a whole different story. one for another time perhaps? I will say, chris made fun of me bc fred told me to google him and I did! c'mon there are tons of articles these days about all kinds of shit; having a blog or a bunch of stuff of "frank the bartender from brooklyn" is not impossible!
later we made moves to cameo (love this venue) to hear chris' friend sam play a gig and then to my new favorite bar in williamsburg the cove. this place has a dj every saturday night playin 90's hip hop and other dopeness. FINALLY! was that so much to ask to happen in BROOKLYN. I danced my face off. and it was large amounts of fun (and jager bombs :) for the first time ever, someone besides ME demanded pizza on the drunken way home and then ATE NONE of his 2 slices, forcing me to eat and be angry about it.
sunday fun day! teddy's was missing us, so had my favorite dish for brunch (huevos a la mexicana) and walked around bedford, had a bubble tea and went to the ferry! we went to visit rebecca selling her brewla bars (hand made fresh fruit popsicles that are great and good for you!) at the boardwalk on the way to the ferry and we got a raspberry green tea pop! thank g-d! it was a scorcher and we ended up waiting for the ferry for and hour and a half! we took er to the city to go see super 8.
I can't say enough about how much I loved this movie! I think it MAY be because I didn't expect much. the kids cast are perfect! my fav had to be brace face followed by chub rock and the sweetie pie kid coming in with a tie, the girl is really great too! this movie had it all in the way of old time good shit from back in the spielberg days. reminiscent of goonies and ET in all the good ways, life lessons and touching moments weren't left out. good stuff.

last night a cheeto saved my life
you know the little snack size your mom used to pack for your school and camp lunch? the size us normal americans SHOULD be eating as opposed to the XL giant fat face size bags. anyhooo, after being a house wench and checking folks into chad's apt via airbnb (and MAKING HIS BED for him) i had a drink(s) at east river bar. i forgot how great this place is! bobby the bartender is a good salesmen bc i should have only had ONE drink but as soon as the last sip of #1 was complete he was all "lemme re fill you" and i had had no dinner soooo a $1 bag of tiny cheetos purchased AT THE BAR was din din.
thennnn, it was off to union docs to see a screening of james and joe short documentary which was outstanding, touching, gripping and made people question something most of us are avoiding as young adults. cheers to them! a 14 minute doc that KILLED the other 90 min drawn out doc about funerals of different tribes in africa. it was decent and interesting but could have been just as sufficient if it were half the length. the venue (union docs) is a non profit great place for evolving writers and directors but they have no ac and after a 2 vodka soda dinner i almost passed out and or hurled. hence the cheetos saving my life!

airbnb
chad started the airbnb obsession and it has now taken over the entire creative dept and is spreading like wildfire! i tell everyone i know bc this soon to be bought for around $1 BILLION company is in fact brilliant. they started out renting air mattresses to out of towners coming in for reunions etc and have turned into a FAST growing trend that has no way of dying anytime soon.
you can rent an apt, boat, tent, cottage, mansion etc instead of looking for a hotel anywhere around the world. its an amazing and affordable option as opposed to a fancy (or roach) motel.
my listing is seen here> you can rent a room of your apt to make extra $$ or rent out your entire apt while your out of town (or perhaps while you go stay w a friend or a honey). someone has already inquired if my place is available for 2 weeks in july- i stand to make $1300.00 for that 2 weeks if i let them stay! now there's only the matter of convincing cc to let me crash w him and bill and cutting them a small fee ;) its not for everyone- i don't think i can be away from my house for 2 weeks straight but the $ sure is a temptation.

this is a crazy but original idea: WATCH ME (trailer)
i spent last week and most of the weekend watchin chick flicks and being a blabbering baby. what do i expect when watching these 3 movies? BUT both of the indie's were quite good and ONE (timer) was actually a pretty original idea and would be called a sci fi rom com! while a total stretch it asks kind of a cool question that i still can't answer for myself.
'keith' is a really good coming of age high school story. try not to cry- go ahead i DARE you.
as for 'just go with it' i can't believe i'm saying this but, i didn't mind BLAHniston (aka jen aniston). its a cute flick and while the beginning is kinda slow and meh, it picks up a little and sandler pulls off a fun time and a bit of amusing physical humor.

cc cooked me pasta and it was truly delish! he lost points when siding w bently's TOOLness on bachelorette but i WIN bc i have him addicted to the show. murhahahah. this dinner was yummmmmyumyumyyum. chris makes me smile.

destafano's steak!
finally went to destafano's steak in bklyn last night! like a moron, did i get steak? no i got chicken cordon bleu BUT everything was pretty darn good! i won't give it a 10/10 but a solid 8. service was impeccable and even though i was using a groupon they were nice as can be!

long story short-- conor and lisa and i had a photo shoot in boston. for said shoot we had to rent a llama, ever since we receive the lil folk farm email blasts as a result. the most recent one was re summer camp. i want to go, but its for 6-15 year olds. conor was kind enough to make me a fake id!

after moving into my first solo apt and one WITHOUT ac i am now almost able to say i am a true new yorker. still always proud of the south and will always claim the ville first tho. i am one that loves the heat! loves a hot sticky car in the summer, loves the beach and the pool and the 85+ degree weather BUT for the first time w no air conditioning in the tiny 1 bd apt i have i nearly suffocated (chris and myself) on monday. leave it to me to buy ac when its price has skyrocketed to the highest point of the year! put this puppy in last night w some help and its rocking! pretty much cools the whole apt. can't wait to see the electric bill! growing up sux! oh, my asshole neighbor also has theirs in the same window right above me and alls i hear is a really annoying drip, DRIP, DRip from their unit right on top of mine! eeeerrggggg.
