on one of the coldest mornings of the year who comes outside to a dead battery in scratchy (my car)?? ME it 16 de-freakinggrees and i was so lucky to catch a car service guy that was nice enough to say say yes, when i frantically knocked on his window and asked "will you jump me" hmmm that could've been interpreted the wrong way. my hands are still thawing and i thanked him by giving him a case of vitaminwater10 :) it was pretty sad to see how dependant i am on my keyless remote and attempting to find the key slot for my trunk was also slightly amusing. whatta morn! t.g.i.f!

tired, crankles and wondering why the new apple product sounds like a feminine hygiene product

first i must debut liz's t.o.t (or "tower of terror"- quote credit by mjr). she stole nonna receipe and made her/our own last night and it was pretty damn good, lala and i were impressed! this is both great form me and bad for liz bc i will lay on the sofa and demand she fry me up t.o.t and serve it to me on a silver platter (regularly). it's $12 on nonna's menu- i'll give her a buck 99.

lastly i would like to complain like many others, that apples new product marketers/think tank'ers were not so on point with the selection of their newest product name. lara, liz and myself came up w about 10 alternates (in 10 seconds) that are much better and do not connote a fem wipe/maxi pad/product. i need to work for apple.

can't wait for marrah to arrive this wkend and get rowdy on a sat night w me like the good ole days of high-school!

tennessee

last night i rented a movie entitled tennessee (for obvious reasons) even though mariah carey is in it. i happen to think she aint half bad when it come to acting (and lets all agree she can sing pretty well). it seemed like it was an alright plot... unfortunately i did not watch the entire movie but i did watch all of 'the invention of lying' which was ok at best. jennifer garner just plain bugs me to tears and ricky gervais saved anything worth salvaging. rob lowe also appears and no one could make me wanna barf more- maybe that's why he always plays that kind of character? the guy could be nice in real life- who knows but in my life he makes me severely agitated. also recently saw 'new york, i love you' which is a series of stories if you will and each is directed by a different well... director. it was interesting and a decent hour and a half spent on sofa, since it was a few stories intertwined there wasn't much of a cohesive feel but each little act was cool in it's own way.

 in other news i am anxiously awaiting my friend from home's arrival and a party saturday i am dragging her to with the ladies. i don't have house guests of my own often and when i do i am excited when they are old great friends that could care less whether we sit on the sofa eating pizza or go out 'on the town'- we'll be doing a lil of both this weekend.

its detox time

ate way too much yesterday and am feeling so sluggish and angered i could barf. i am half hunched over the desk NOt ready to work. it was pizza day at work (oops 4 slices throughout the day) and the stress of an annoying project is making me stress eat! no mas! espically after last nights mexican at veracruz 195 bedford (near n 6th) 718.486.3333 yukie- too many chips and am just feeling it. perhaps its because i haven't had a normal bizzaro dre appetite for some time and it came back yesterday? i now know bizarro dre needs to be banished to the coast from whence she came :( ugh 

i missed the bachelor but someone was kind enough to dvr it for me :) its only tuesday!

inglorious weekend

this weekend was filled w food and drink and a lil dancin'. friday night was a tour of the LES w v and brooke as well as liz and daniel (i think). we started off visiting brooke and vanessa's amazing apt on 10th st bet ave c and d... we got toasty and jumped from lakeside lounge 162 ave B (at 10th st) to lit 93 2nd ave (at 6th street) to somewhere else to sin sin 248 e 5th st (and 2nd ave). by the evenings end, someone (not me for once- ha!) barfed out the cab window the whole way home. needless to say twas a good night. 

saturday was spent on the sofa for a good long while then to la nonna to nurse away the hangover and begin to drink some more and venture out on bedford. it was an early night in and i think we watched a movie (all us cozy roomies).

sunday was a bit lazy as well and finally pulled self out of bed to go to teddy's 96 berry st 718.384.9787 for (as usual) the best brunch to be had in williamsburg. then off to beacon's to sell some old clothes/shoes. cutie calls to get a mani, which i refuse to pay for from now on and to the city w liz for a nail polish warehouse mission. i ate mcdonald's and am still feeling guilty! i also finally saw inglorious basterds (i love that they spell it wrong by the way). i must say, although i didn't want to believe the hype- this was a damn good movie. i can't stand brad pitt for one reason or another and i totally dug his performance. he did a perfect tennessee accent and i am proud (i thought he carried the flick). everyone else was pretty great too- esp the asshole that i hated so much that he has to be a good actor since he made my blood boil! 

lesly how do you open so many restaurants!??

my homie lesly has opened yet another spot that i will be passing thru very soon! the village tart (addy above). besides having an awesome name this place is sure to please! congrats (again) lesly! :)

sleepy head

soooomeone (conor) overslept and made me late to work and now i have come in about a half hour later than norm and am all types of frazzle'd. i SO need my morning alone time at work, i'm a freak! felis friday! 

i have an invention

ok, so i need to invent some sort of "screen mirage" for my computer if you will.... when people walk by (aka the CMO of the company etc.) i need it to look like entourage is up when in fact i am on facebook. hmmmm? i'm not even talking privacy screen here people i'm talking some stealth shi*t. if i could manage, this would be huge!

visited fette sau 354 metropolitan ave (near havemeyer) 718.963.3404 last night with and boy had i missed that place! we shared some bourbon, bbq, and pickles! soooo good. i love the cozy feel of fette but make no mistake you will smell of a smokehouse for a good day or so after! in other news the flourecent lights above my new desk are killing me slowly, and i think i am going to come up w some type of "condition" that requires me to have none above my desk! what else? it's thursday which is good and i can't wait for the weekend. have promised liz we will go dancin one night and tear the mother down.

not sure what energy is out there but i got a handful of random phone calls from old friends last night and while i usually hate phone calls they were pleasant surprise(s). it's the best when you can talk to someone you haven't spoken to in months and months (and maybe even someone you pissed off when you were home to visit and didn't see them) and it's like nothing ever happened. those are the best kind of friends, where you can pick up right where you left off and its like you saw then yesterday. driving in to work i heard one of my favorite inspirational lily allen songs and came into the office to find more messages via the ole fb that were pleasant surprises.

in other news i would like to experience the cafe mentioned above!

weekend update and stuff....

the weekend was long but never long enough. friday was drinks and debauchery w a muy fun crowd. saturday was chill and errand filled w my favorite brunch at fabianne's (fresh acai with granola and bananas). attempting to go to a movie, then getting frustrated re parking and going home to watch fame (which was cute-so shut up!). saturday- i got rowdy on wine and picked a quarrel (surprise) i'm an idiot. sunday was more errands, cleaning of the closet, chillin on the sofa and.... watching the globes. smartwater was everywhere! yep- you're welcome.... we did a pretty good job. monday's holiday was spent getting a ticket in front of my house! arrrrg. grabbing sushi, dodging hassid's in williamsburg seeing 'it's complicated' (which was really funny) shoppin at urban and la nonna! all with my favorite person everrrrr (lb). sorta did and sorta did not have the t.o.t last night ;)

what to blog?

no clue what to write abt this am?? that usually doesn't happen! i think i'm brain dead a tad this week; partly due to work and the other part from the NOS addiction i am forming. we have the energy drink here in the fridge at work bc it's also now one of our brands and when i tell you the stuff's pretty damn close to what i imagine nitrous oxide to be i don't kid. bounce off the walls much? when vanessa and i drink it- it's quite a sight for sore eyes!

almost a (LONG) weekend!

new diggs and sweet gifts!!!!!

sometimes change is good, sometimes its annoying. either way i just moved desks at work! the bright horrific fluorescent lights are super gross but i kinda like the new space and having cleaned out my desk! may i say that my first mail delivery from evan in my new home was a CUPCAKE delivery from none other than my precious larlar!!! omg- obsessed. they came with a note that they are "just because..." i am in love! 

someone got the recommended 8 hrs of sleep last night

sweepy... been goin goin at work and guess it wiped me out a tad. well, that or i just love sleep more than anything in this world. was in bed at 10:30 last night like a true old person! after i housed a "gryo" from garden grill and watched a lil tv and answered some emails. nothing much to report- all this work i have been doing better pay off when i watch the golden globes this sunday! crossin' fingers. anyhoo, its midweek so that's good and i'm boring today sooooo... cheers.

the new bachelor

the new season of the bachelor lured liz and i in last night! wow on this douche roll (he may look handsome in this pic but he's a dodo) and these silly ass girls. these 20 somethings give me a bad name! oh wait, that's right i'm NOT IN MY 20's so maybe that's why i deem them "RIDICULOUS". nah... they do in fact give women a bad name (most of them). sh*t's hilarious and the intensity/drama that ensues when one of the hottest ones is kicked off the show for "canoodling" with a "staffer" can only be explained as comical and confusing. all these chicks started crying their little pretty overly mascara'd eyes out??! ummm, why are you crying? first off, you know you are happy that not only is there one less animal to [cat] fight over but she was a super hot so don't act like you are distraught. and gimme a break when you say you are so insulted that she trampled his heart you are in tears! GAG ME! liz and i laughed the while way thru this show and can't wait til next monday.

on a completely ironic note... we also watched "a serious man" a cohen brothers film that recently came out. this one is a semi frustrating doozie and amusing only to those jews that grew up w yiddish speaking households w nutty parents- wait.... any jew grew up this way right?!! hmmmmm. its a "different" kind of film and i guess i recommend it (?) if you are in the mood for a strange but well shot film.

b*tches is crazy

this weekend was relatively chilllll. after drop off's at each of nyc's airports/bus stations for various folks i bummed around bklyn, got the mani did, had some brunch by my lonesome, did some thrift store shoppin' and met v sat night for hot coco and "pie". i put pie in quotes bc what was called chocolate mud pie on the menu at remedy diner 245 e houston (at norfolk) 212.677.5110 was in fact a fat piece of cake. anyhoo- i also managed to watch approx 13 hours of "platinum weddings" on the WE network. platinum weddings consist of women that have zero budget and find it sane to fork over $104,000 for flowers, $200,000 to feed their guests, $40,000 to rent a venue etc.... these bitches are NUTS to say the least. buy a house, or a boat or i don't know- put some dough away for yourselves or you family for the future. jesus! sure if i ever get married i want a wedding, but something fun, intimate and chill. over my dead bosy will i spend as much on flowers as i would a luxury vehicle. sorry! faye would prob beg to differ but that's a fight(s) that remains to be had....

la esquina you makin me loco

similar to the many facets of la esquina 114 kenmare @lafayette 646.613.7100 is me. is it a cafe? a tacqueria? a bar? a restaurant? who's to say but i have just as many questions if not more swirlin' around me noggin so... it was fitting to dine there last night (in the cafe this time). love this spot its always amazing. the food came out realllly late so they comp'd me a glass of house red wine which was so good i need to call and ask what it was. i had tinga de pollo- a plate of amazing pulled chicken stewed w tomatoes, onion and cilantro. came w black beans and white rice AND sliced avocado and cabbage. yummmmm.

met my favorite person for dinner last night at la nonna where i had the most tasty minestrone soup and the chicken special. lara and i could prob sit in nonna for 6 hours if allowed. last night special was once again chicken w peas, mushrooms, ham and white wine sauce w goat cheese- it's the most fantastic.

holy new year batman. nothing quite like family and a few pleasant surprises on trips home for the new year... nashvegas changes more and more each time i visit. great friends and cheap drinks are always the same though and while you never get to see all the people you want to you find some things never change. jfp if you read this- you are the best in whole wide! huge heart, always ready to listen, always give the best advice and will always be my love! miss baptist bible beater is a lucky gal!!!! this happened to be one of the best new years ever; i guess that generally happens when you make no plans and don't expect much. we ran around to from dan mcguiness to 12th and porter, to the hilton hotel to the guitar drop on broadway and back to 12th and p. had cherry flavored vodaka for the first, was literally nearly tramppled to death in dntown madness, and danced the night away. wouldn't have wanted to ring in 2010 with anyone else than the fam and raddison! PM is now my fav spot to dine and drink. also discovered a new gem in green hills before i left today (yolas) check it out and def order the jambalaya egg rolls! yolas is next to the regal down thur by the mall.... very bittersweet trip, have never wanted to stay home or be back as much as i did this trip around, hopefully will be back before i know it. i sometimes find myself wanting the impossible - guess its a good thing that i think anything is possible.
