chillin on a saturday- hung over ON A BOAT!

'knowing' now that i shouldn't have watched this movie

i watched knowing last night with the roomies and the house guests (kit and jordan- 2 terribly sweet individuals that i subjected to this movie). in all fairness russ had ripped it off the internet and we hook up the laptop to the tele and watch the hell out of some flicks... i had been wanting to see this for a while (i think i almost convinced m to go to the theatre when it came out?) and my boy nick never dissapoints- as weird and as ______ as this movie was i still can't say anything horrible about mr cage. this is an end of the world flick; i think the only prob is that the entire budget went to the last 10 mins where you see really cool blow up scenes of the whole country-- oops! did i ruin it? not really- you'll have to watch for yourself... i still have to give nick a few stars for his performance (i just refuse to hate this man) which is more than i can say for the annoying chick that plays along side him in the middle-end (thankfully she gets plowed over by a car *oops again). the little boy (nicks son) is adorable and that's about all i have to say about this flick.

praise baby jesus for a short work week.

party and bull&%$*

friday night was a roof partay at casa de serkins/fong. that should be the name of a club! its great!

saturday i somehow managed to wake up at 8 (OH right! bc i was hung over and DYING) and m got me out of the house for the ride to LB where i was so sick i couldn't speak. then i requested he stop at t.j. max so i could get a bathing suit- lucky we stopped bc i ran to their bathroom to toss my cookies for a good 10 mins! we finally made it to his rents house where his sister and brother and 1.5 year old all made fun of me for looking liek death. i jumped in the pool and was a bit better. then we went on the boat (BRILLIANT for a hangover). nothing like rocking to and fro when you were already doing so whilst sitting in a chair stationary!  we got some grub at my fav restaurant and by then i was finally better (kind of).

sunday we went to the pool and went inside to watch usa get crushed by brazil in the fifa tournament...we hung out on the boat for a bit and m took me on a jet ski ride where i screamed like a blabbering baby when he took it above 50 mph. then we had some pizza and it was back to brooklyn. now its monday and i'm at work-- sucky.

i wasn't the hugest fan, but i am kinda sad to say the least :(

bring your dog to work day nation wide

my co workers dog is the cutest dog ever! portuguese water dog. his name is rick; oh, and it really is bring your dog to work day!

camel toe?

after some photo opps w a camel at the playground...
last night m and i dined at madiba 195 dekalb (at carlton) 718.855.9190 i haven't been here in years since before i even lived in bklyn. its an african spot with great food and has a great outdoor sidewalk area. the inside is cute, cozy and open in the back portion. we had samoosas (fired triangles of dough love with curry veggies and potato inside) some really tasty black bean soup and m had grilled calamari (no thanks). i ordered roti w curry chicken which was amazing. the chicken was cooked to perf and the sauce was great- the roti was like flaky crisp flat biscuits (not like indian roti which i was expecting). everything was quite tasty although the meal came so late we took a few bites and took the rest home. pretty great meal if your looking for something with some atypical options in ft greene.

*photos show me smooth talking the hell out of this camel-- i also got the digits!

muchin all the time

speak of food- last night i ate at sweetwater 105 n 6th st (bet berry and wythe) 718.963.0608 the ambiance is great and there is a beautiful garden! the calamari (which i don't usually like) was damn good. the cured meats were pretty good as well (served with mini pickles, olives, and roast red pepps) i also had a soup of the day (cream of mushroom) which was tasty and hot enough! i always like my soup scalding (i take after my dear grandpa there) and this was a good temp. i had a bite of my aunts burger and mommys ribeye. all were really good but i have been feeling kinda crappy lately so its rough to eat....i didn't evenorder an entree- VERY unlike me NOR did i have any of liz's chicken (hmmm i should have!) or m's scallops (bleck).

6/24/09

nothing like some mexican food when your sick

last night i ate with aunt shirl and momma faye at manana 27 e 61st street (bet madison and park) 212.752.8900 it was quite delicious even though i wasn't feeling too hot. really good queso dip and guac. and the fajitas (both chicken and steak) were really tasty and done to perfection! we also had a tequila sampler w 3 little shots and all took a sip of each. my new fav is 1800 anjeo!

ok i feel like poop and i'm off- happy hump day

6/23/09

mommy is here

mom and aunt shirl are in town for a few days! last night we went to patsy's 236 w 56th st (bet 8th ave and b'way) 212.247.3491 yummm! this place is a scene and everyone you can think of has been in (it was sinatra's fav chow stop back in the diz-ay). the chef and owner for years is probably the nicest man i have ever met. he came around to every table upstairs where they stick the tourists (which we got stuck in bc i called for a table and said i was with tourists that are nuts and could we please have a table). he asked about the food and had his son (prob 10 years old) w him as he honed him to be as great as an owner one day. there are pics with sal the owner all over with people like ben stiller, sex and the city cast, leno, chris rock.... there was a wayne newton look alike singing old songs upstairs that serenaded my mom a few times! the food- fantastic! i had chicken marsala and antipasto appetizer which we all enjoyed. everything was realy tasty and not quickly put together and throw on a table like most tourist spots bc they know you'll come in-- so why should the food be good. this spot is delicious. the only drawback-- was the lady on the phone telling me they'd validate my parking for the lot across the street. once validated the total was $28. THAAAANKs for the deal. shmucks! aside from that i will visit this spot again if ever i find myself in my old neighborhood again (i'll just street park).

m's floorboard- oops

look at his cute little caption- awwwww how sweet; when really he's thinking "get your shit out of my car!"

weekend update

friday was a wash-- was so hung over i was dumb! and done. went home after work and watched twilight- am now obsessed with the vampire culture and edward! mmm. went to dinner w liz/fuss at graziellas (never a let down) and went back home to watch another movie- "confessions of a shopaholic" blah at best. nothing thrilling or fun to report on that. isla fisher is lucky she got that role.

saturday evening was la's b day! at the boat basin (79th street and riverside dr) 212.496.5542 such a NEAT outdoor venue! it was marvelous and fun even though the weather was less than perfect. her fam and her friends
are all super sweet and her dad rocks bc he allowed the open bar to go alllll night! nice. then to m's to fall fast asleep.

sunday was a trip to li to see m's fam and the adorable mason for dad's day! he's a brave soul (look at him compared to the size of the giant puppy in the pic below) and a quick wit at that. eat him up-- he's tasty!

and sunday eve was a chill movie night with lots of treats--- :) the
popcorn bucket was a b day gift from liz that has come in
muy handy! m was scared of the movie i picked (quarantine) and don't let him tell you different! too bad the cover gives the whole movie away!

evidence of my hangover and no recollection of this or a few other things i have been told

just received the following from an old friend via facebook

hi honey... i had a dream about you last night. I guess you were robbing bakeries for all their sweets.. they had your mug shot on the news and everything!!

still knows me rather well even though i haven't seen her in over 10 years! :)insert my mug in the shot above

happy friday!

dead

last nights festivities and disgusting brand vodka and garbage ass energy drink (v&v- which reminds me of a vajayjay) were the cause of me riding to work (bc i had to ask conor to drive) in a fetal position and wanting to be punched HARD so i would at least pass out- if not die. how many times do i have to experience shitty vodka hangovers before i learn!?? why!!!!!!!!!!!! am i stubborn and dumb?? :(  i want my mommy!! i feel like this:

(gag) HOWEVER i would not know (thru my rad office mate and friend la) that justin has apparently done jessica wrong (she deserves it the stupid slutty mcslutterson) now she will leave him and i can swoop in to console his little tantrum having self! murhahaha. kidding- i have a wonderful man in my life tht would never do as justin has done as he fears the wrath of my psychodom.

WHO KNEW

that diplo was a finey mcfinester!?? last night me and my gang went to a fader mag "thing" on the roof of a bushwick rooftop space called office ops 57 thames st (near knickerboker ave). the venue was amazing with 360 degree views of manhattan. there were 2 bands prior to "major lazer's" set which consists of diplo and (who cares about the other dude)- kidding- but not really. one of the 2 prior bands was somewhat of a joke it seemed. three guys w drums and 2 guitars that stood there and whined. the other (major hipster) band was pretty dope actually- part of diplo's now dope collection of crew on his label 'mad decent' (popo and maluca). anyhoo-- the night turned out to be quite fun and i am proud to be at work with only a mild hangover.

happy hump day!

6/16/09

go to this link http://spezify.com/  and type anything in! your name, someone else's name, a brand name etc. nuts-o. i found this pic of vaness and i only its tiny. it listed our names and all?? scary....

best invite ever

ahem... the tapeworm twins mentioned in the special appearances-- that would be yours truly and my sis! if you don't get the reference you don't know either of us. next.

poopie morn

i awoke to the fun of cleaning cat poop and cat barf this am-- needless to say it was a cranky morning BUT when i arrived at work i had this adorable mug staring at me (via email unfortunately)  :)

6/15/09

smartwater graveyard

can't understand why m doesn't like me bringing home my liter size smarts? there are also about 3 in the boudoir....

i am soooo over joe

friday night was dinner with meredith and eric at aqua santa in williamsburg. the second time around wasn't as amazing as the first. i HATE when that happens. but the food was still pretty good. we had a new waitress so maybe that was part of the let down? i thought she was cute and i could tell she was frazzled but still the food wasn't 100% amazing when it came out- just didn't taste the same as the first time?

saturday was a day in the city w liz shopping and one hell of an expensive vacuum later i got a fuckin 115 dollar ticket from some parking cop that i hope got food poisoning later that day! i also got a mani and its neon hot pink-- can't decide if i likey??

saturday night we went to joes shagnghai (midtown) 24 west 56yth street (bet 5th and 6th) 212.333.3868 i should have known this was a bad idea (and i did) but  i knew there would be no 45 minute wait and that i was hungry (shocking). there wasno wait and the food BLEW. more expensive of coure than on pell street and so bad. BLAH. we were off to see 'hangover' after dinner so i knew the night would end well and boy did it. i actually got james and m to stop off at 16 handles and then to the theatre on broadway and 19th street (bc kips bay was sold out).
the movie is hysterious and the cameo from tyson makes the film so much more enjoyable. i will certainly rent this flick as soon as i can bc people were laughing so much and so hard that i missed a few things. oh, and that new bradley cooper fellow- HELLO (drool) he's bananas and quite funny too i guess :) also- the baby in the movie is about the cutest wittwle fella i've ever seen!

sunday was a suck hole of blah!

happy monday!

6/12/09

barf bag please

last night m and i went to a b day get together at salt bar 29 clinton (at stanton) 212.979.8471 this spot has a really nice ambiance and is a cool space playing chill music with great appetizers and $4 sangria. its rustic and ny hip all in one- me likey.

on a crap note-- we were both walking around starved and happened upon 1492 (food) 60 clinton street (near rivington) 646.654.1114 where we ordered (overpriced) "tapas" for $12-14 a pop. the soda i got was def from the ole nina or santa maria of 1492 --so stale and disgusting. the mushrooms (for like $12!!) were marinated with something similar to dog pee smell. the only things that were tasty were the chorizo lollipops (yes sounds gross but were actually decent) and the filet app which were small cuts of filet cooked pretty well done over mashed potatoes. all in all i would not rec this place. maybe i was also turned off by teh blaring disco music and the table of 30 for a party that sat right next to us and yelled the entire time? couldn't her myself think! haha i sound like an old lady-- oh wait- i am old!

6/11/09

naughty school boy

last night m and i ate at chez lola 387 myrtle (near clermont) 718.858.1484 we normally go to bfast here but the dinner was amazing! i had a great cobb salad and filet mignon carpacio as an app with balsamic reduction, fresh thin slice parm cheese and slices of avocado! m had french onion soup (tht i ate all of) and paella. everything was yum and there was a really great brazilian man and woman couple that played live music. they were super charming and not loud and overwhelming for a dinner vibe.

later i rented 4 movies and m picked one of them-- we flipped coins to narrow them down and i LOST and we put in 'crossing over' (i wanted the newest renee zelwegger flick) *or the cheerleader flick 'fired up' :( but crossing over was pretty good and it was a surprise treat to see my famous homie mikey esparza (aka sparky) playing once again, the naughty spic school boy (he's 29 and looks like a BABY). he's always the "bad boy" in films-- in 'crossing over' he's harassing a muslim student and screaming horrible things at her. he's the most lovable wittwe monkey in for real life of course so it's amusing! here's his purdy imbd photo

6/10/09

my bike my bike my bike

the title of this post is actually a movie quote- 50 bucks to anyone that can tell me what movie! i gots me a bike from target! i am so excited to get out and go riding. little did i realize what an investment healthy activities require! $60 lock, $50 helmet... good gosh. i'd be better off buying a new pair of trainers. anyhoo here she blows-- all shiny and new, we'll see how long she lasts in brooklyn before someone steals something from her. oh, and i need a name for her....
