ish...

the weekend was one of those good ones where i don't necessarily feel like i wasted it. packed w house guests and stuff ta do. friday i bought a much needed flat screen for my boudoir and then we all had dinner at la nonna- where else would i take lucky visitors? arjun and his lovely lady joined us who i met for the first time that night and already know he'll marry this one. they are adorable. off to berry park for beers and such- then to brooklyn whisky (which opens TODAY) for a surprise personal tour of the unopened spot! we migrated the crew to k&m for dancin and around 3ish is when i called DONE. sat was chill brunch at 5 leaves and then to lara's sister's baby shower which was the cutest decorated thing ever- and the best homemade food (bc bandler is a martha in her own right). chilled at home and ordered mexican in w chris before departing allllll the way to upper east where we went to hear his friend play a gig. said friend blew my mind w guitar and singing skills! then we drank the night away at a bar that i can't remember the name of to save my life (irish joint on 19th and 7th ave where his homeBOY Lawrence works). dropped my iphone in the toilet and then it was time to depart. sunday ='d bagels and old movies on MY new tele laid out and lazy just how a 100 degree sunday should be! then end. can't wait for the weekend!

sa-weeet! well done justin

my hoime is doing well opening bars on the LES and now in my hood! it's about time considering he lives in the bk! here's where i'll be going tonight... they have a stripper pole in house. UH oooooh.

Brothers often outgrow the competitive streaks of their youth, whether due to maturity, mutual respect, or the fact that Dad's never going to loveeither of you. For brothers giving you a place to get competitive with anyone, check out The Whiskey Brooklyn.
The brohams behind Whiskey Town and Whiskey Tavern have teamed up with another set of bros (origin: Tulsa) to turn a former tonic water factory into a massive adult rec room/rathskeller time machine, with concrete floors, old brick walls, dark wooden booths, and a central U-shaped bar ("for eye [sexing] across") dimly cast in an orange glow alongside modern touches like seven huge LCDs, and a DJ booth siding an elevated stripper pole (though whether your pole's elevated depends on who's on it). For gamesmanship, a pair of hand-built shuffleboard tables nestle in one corner, while an adjacent room's filled with foosball, Buck Hunter, mini-basketball, and an Arcade Legends machine housing 100 classics from Rampage to Street Fighter II, so you don't get Shunned Li by your Guile-less friends for Blanka-ing out. Suiting the vibe're gratifyingly manly beer options -- domestic cans, Hi-Life bottles, and McSorley's-esque "light" and "dark" drafts -- but it's the brown that steals the spotlight, showing up in Pickle Backs, 'tails made from family made Tom Lawless American whiskey, and straight pours from a 50-plus-strong collection broken down by provenance, including America (Colorado, Michter's...), Japan (Suntory Yamakazi), and Scottland, whose Famous Grouse is just upset it can't get into Canadian clubs.
Sustenance need not require braving the light of day, as the kitchen's handling variously topped mini dogs called Coneys, deep fried bacon w/ blue cheese, a Bowl of Meatballs, and gravy-cheese smothered tots -- smart kids, as absent love, it's nice to be smothered in something.

see link for viewing without a telescope: http://bacontoday.com/17-mouthwatering-facts-about-bacon/

also a hilarious fact: 23% of people surveyed by maple leaf foods said they were concerned their partner loved bacon more than them

blog slackin'!

still in recovery from the swine flu (not really thank g-d *i don't THINK) tried to take it semi easy this weekend. discover R bar (or better known to liz and i and i as weird bar) on meeker and graham. where the very different joe bar-tends and even without knowing us gave us a couple on the house. then we mosey'd over to legion on metropolitan and humbolt where we snagged a booth and the dj was pretty dope. went in fairly early (1:30 ish) and on saturday took it way easy w dominos, couch, and movies w the roomies. sundaywas equally as rainy and gross and consisted of brunch w liz at teddys- back home to sit on arse and watch the new miley cyrus movie (good stuff). then i went to bother chris and enjoy (at least i did) yet another stellar romcom! murhahahah (addicted to love w the lovely meg ryan and matthew broderick). got caught in the rain and ate copious amounts of pizza and ravioli. mmmm.... ah the weekend, how quickly they come to an end. please let the next one come quick! ordering the addicted to love soundtrack NOW.

shows and shit

few shows last week that were fun! v's man matt's band played at spike hill (young lady is their name) pretty dope! the national at terminal 5 (which i've never been to but was pretty cool! also helped to be in ahem.. VIP! ;) and nas/damien marly at the willburg waterfront. the mural near kent av was pretyy dope and this pic came out quite nice i think. so sad that summers already on its way out (yuk) but still want to go catch as many shows as poss (pool parties on sunday and movies in the park). busy at work so today's entry prob makes no sense- just wanna blab. wine and TEEN WITCH last night was good times (subjected yet another victim to 1989's best flick ever!). cheers to a monday and it ending soon i hope!
