just when i decided to have a lil detox time??

new bar opening in the hood and the jukebox is key! love the description:

From a group of chefs/contractors (headlined by Sam Mason) grown weary of industry pretensions, LJ's a neighborhood hang dedicated to no-frills, straight-a head boozin, with walls decked with Southern accoutrement from a painting of a Native American, to empty jars, to an American Flag, to a mounted set of steer horns -- weird, as you'd think anyone in the drivers seat would want to be doing the mounting. Past the wooden booths and vintage Shuffle Bowling machine's a dimly-lit bar made from reclaimed 100-yr-old Virginian wood, fronting an enormous, ornate, gold-framed mirror purchased on Craigslist; further back's a mulling space rocking a country/blues/soul jukebox, leading to the crown jewel: a spacious, bench-lined deck surrounded by a high wooden fence, sure to make good neighbors with everyone but Community Board 1. Hooch is expectedly no-nonsense, from occasionally-seasonal draughts like Coney Island White & Goose Island IPA, to bottles of High Life, Anchor Steam, and Newcastle, to Lions Head/Milwaukee's Best cans and PBR Tall Boys; ditching specialty cocktails, the fully-stocked bar's highlighted by scotches & whiskeys, including Buffalo Trace's White Dog Moonshine, though how do you expect him to get a tan when he's always under the house with a hangover?
Future plans include adding dart boards and a pool table to the garden, which'll also host blowout BBQ's, crab/crawfish boils, and live music performances, one of which'll hopefully be Ice T, cause there isn't a game that dude doesn't know how to survive.

werkin

blitzin in yo face!

yesterday most of us cool folks in the office volunteered to hit the streets and do "stuff" that we at corporate don't do since we sit as desks allll day. people went on sales runs, put up pos in stores and elsewhere and some of US did "seeding" which consists of drooping off our dope ass products to various other cool people that we think are worthy of free yummy vwater to share with their coworkers etc. wasn't half bad getting driven around in a suv running cases to and fro. maybe even got a lil workout in there. of course the cool consisted of me conor and vanessa. in true corporate fashion there was an after event where we got hammered. BUT for a good cause- vp's and others guest bar-tended for tips that went to charity. good times!

i heart spin

getting off the rump and pushing your tired hungover ass to the limit on about 3 hours of sleep is kind of refreshing and addictive. i'd love to become a work out fiend but it aint in my blood or routine/habit. none the less it was fun and the event at soul cycle was badass. not as badass as the chick who teaches 4 classes a day and thought our 7:30pm calss (!!??) insane and def thoguht i was gonna hurl after... but held it together. go us!

a couple of my fav things...

whilst researching my party flyer teddy came across this and i had to post it... the real invite is above (also thx to teddy).

always excited for new foods in the hood...

especially when daily candy features  the words "southern fried" in the description. i dorve by last night and this spot is so cute. they have a green garden on the roof and a small picnic area w tables to the side.

Starting today, he’s serving breakfast (egg, bacon, and cheese biscuits; beignets) and lunch/dinner (hot dogs, burgers, fish and chips) from the window. Ten days from now, you’ll be able to eat in the adjacent garden, a complete overhaul of the lot that’s been vacant for years.

And with everything priced at less than $11, we predict it will become your go-to in B’burg. That is, if you’re smarter than a fifth grader.

i'm hatin it...

the weekend was a good one. again too much food and some drink but hey, what are weekends for? friday's bar crawl was a success, if by me whooping liz and conor at the gutter you mean success :) we made it to about 3.5 of the 5 or 6 bars on the list- not a bad turnout. i was home by about 1:15 so it wasn't a complete debacle! saturday me and liz hung w her man and evan- russ' friend from cali. we went craft fairing at mccarron park and i helped him pick out a necklace for his lady at home. we also dragged him to the city for shopping (where i was quite behaved and spent a mere $31.00). me and liz then had a romantic la nonna dinner and went to k&m where it was chill and we sat on the "patio" all night talking to my hair dresser that we ran into. sunday was utter lazy (mcdonalds was had which i am still regretting as well as chinese) :( grosshead!

mondays- blah

bee tv

forget match.com- the tv is my bf these days anyhow! this is pretty cute. more and more sites (FACEBOOK) are starting to closely track your every move (scary) anyhow, and share it w marketers- sometimes its targeted to your benefit- sometimes maybe no. this site seems kinda cool and matches you up w tv programs :) sweet! they seem to be in testing still but check it out: http://www.thrillist.com/links/135428

i'll be a guinea pig!

fishbowl

long weekends are great for so many reasons. short work week upon return, lazy days and good weather always helps. spent most o the weekend low key and at the park. saw a cpl movies (sex and the city and solitary man- an indie at angelika w michael douglas and mary louise parker) both were alright but not mind blowing... shrek beat out sex which i need to see soon as well!

memorial day consisted of the park and a bbq at matt/kevin's (dope) casa in bed stuy. too much sun and then too much beer made me go home round 8pm to watch trash tv and crash. back at work hating on the fact that i am sitting here and double hating since the new chick that's not even on our team moved into the all glass office RIGHT next to me and i feel like a zoo mamal or vice versa. blah!
