lessons from the weekend...

my bff lara likes jameson! who woulda thought? she also has a beard that she brings out for special occasions like being home for vizzies!! and cc can play the piano? liz and I (and chris and matt and justin) dragged us all out to matts and then to maracuja for dancing and rinks whilst brit dj'd. then off to the half banana house where chris cooked us homemade pizza, tortellini, and lasagna (frozen amy's meals @ 2:30am) and we passed out on sofa.

saturday in a greedy 'i must have taco bell for my last meal in a case a hurricane sweeps over brooklyn and kills us all' moment i nearly killed my man! i am still traumatized by the fact that we ran to the bell saturday before all businesses closed and made it in the nick of time to order a few key items and chris ate a grilled stuffed burrito w meat! he always subs all meat for beans bc DUH he's a vegetarian, but upon ending our feast he noticed meat product in his wrapper. although i almost fainted, i didn't want to freak him out and assured him it was only a little bit in the end of the burrito and that he missed it and didn't eat that much of it if any at all. in reality (in my head) i got up and jumped over the counter in a rage or fury to strangle the normally very nice people of the taco bell on mcguinness blvd. first off I was irate because this may ruin chris' entire weekend and have him violently ill. second- this could scar me and taco bell (and going w cc) for life. UNACCEPTABLE. thank the lord he never got really ill, i don't THINK he ate much meat if any, and afterall, taco bell "meat" is more of a blend of soy and "stuff" than it is grade a meat and in this instance it saved a life! phew. crisis averted. we then went to matt's for a hunker down party of booze snacks and sleeping bags!

sunday was teddy's brunch with a group of 6 (never againg! I waited for an hour) but the fun times were worth it. bloody mary and bedtime was the themem since I had slept on a sofa friday and a floor saturday. mtv vma award viewing party and then some papacitos and back to bed :)

greenpoint how i love thee

vanessa discovered champion coffee on manhattan ave near clay st and I am obsessed. delicious fresh coffee, yogurt parfaits, ham and cheese and all made on the spot and yumm. pricy maybe a bit but absolutely worth it. great- there goes more $ to be spent on yums but maybe only on special days of the week.

last night I went to a show at the laugh lounge on essex (bet stanton and rivington). amusing and lol funny at most times, we mainly went to laugh at karryn (well not AT her but ya know, with her) and there were a few other choice comics and it was a blast. I LOVE doing new york things and enjoying a mcd's fries, doritos and a bacon egg and chee @ midnight!

xoxo

happy hump day

lego my lego's!

whew- this monday is a super cranker! for whatever reason I am EXTRA NOT having it today. thank you jesus that the boss man and woman are out today and I will be leaving on time (or at 5). this weekend was along one bc I took friday to hang w mikey whom I am super proud of for his most recent film mamitas. mikey will always be able to pull off a 17/18 year old even though he's MY AGE (grrr).

I dream of blt prime every night but was lucky enough to have the pleasure of aunt shirley and jenny coming for a visit and of cramming my face with steak, pate, popovers, salad, strawberry sundae and potato and spinach and… happy face even thinking about it.

lego my lego's! cc and I built an amazing ninja fortress saturday and now I'm addicted to legos. I never knew the amazingness! its so relaxing and they have star wars kits that contain up to 3000 pieces! I will build a death star or millenium falcon before its all over.

last night I was brought a mcflurry (rolo) to complete my weekend in a most wonderful way! :)

that's all I got for now….

barfy monday

do my shit for me

this is a novel idea!

Started out in SF and just arriving in NYC, TR specializes in "service networking", i.e., connecting people who don't have time to get their checklists done with people looking to make some extra scratch; the founder lighted upon the idea after finding herself choosing between going out to dinner and buying food for her dog, a problem usually solved by just feeding the dog whatever, because it's a freaking dog. Basically a reverse auction, TR allows users to post a task and suggest a price, at which point fully vetted runners can bid to get the gig; posters then need only select the runner with the right price and skills, which, if you're getting someone to deliver dog food 'cause you're out at dinner, should not include "dog murdering". Setting itself apart from other online concierges, runners have a variety of specific, next-level, non-dog-murdering skills, meaning you can get assistance troubleshooting a computer, setting up a photo shoot, doing research, or learning how to cook, though you know what's more delicious than anything you could ever whip up? People doing stuff for you, that's what!
They've also just added an iPhone app that can geolocate you/connect via Facebook, and uses a simple wheel to break down your mobile task-posting into categories like shopping, cleaning, and food delivery, though god help anyone who shows up with too many starches.

FOUR LOKO

oh those damn ivy leaguer's

this is kinda cool and clever i suppose. i guess i at least thought it deserved a copy/paste.not quite sure there's anything i'd pay upwards of $50.00 to have answered via email but maybe someone will find this a value! enjoy....

They say those who can’t do, teach, and those who can’t teach, teach gym, though Mr. Esasky's enthusiasm watching you climb the rope sure makes it seem like he wants to do something. Get expert advice from doers without letting them ogle you, thanks to Evisors.
Launched by a trio of Ivy grad consultants, Evisors is a database of "world-class experts" in hundreds of fields, all of whom are willing to impart their unique know-how in areas both professional and recreational via phone/email, meaning you can get schooled without being subjected to four horrifying years of partying and sex. Need tips on...
...mountaineering? Learn from the COO of Indaba Music, who’s summited Rainier & a few peaks in Bolivia, and presumably works on a daily basis with people who also get totally high.
...organization? How about talking with a former soap star who launched a home organization service for celebrities that's helped clients including Bryce Dallas Howard, Topher Grace, and, presumably, celebrities.
...shaking what your momma gave you? Pick up moves from a gal with 20yrs experience in ballet/hip-hop/jazz, not to mention a BA from Yale and an MBA from Harvard, where she learned how to stomp the yahd.
...whitewater kayaking? Get brain nutrition from an enthusiast who also happens to run logistics for General Mills, so yeah, dude knows mad Trix.
They've also got package deals pairing you with four relevant experts who'll help fashion you into a stronger candidate for law school or top-level finance gigs -- just pray you don't end up working with Mr. Esasky, as he'd just be way too into watching you climb the corporate ladder.

mondays... are only good for remembering the weekend and how you could sleep til 11am for the last 2 days and now your angry that you can't. friday open bar from 8-9 started things off right @ harry hurricanes on ave b bet 2nd/3rd street. their decor was interesting (pic of johnny attached) and there were friendly brooklynites that ended up there and chatted it up about some of the most horrid land lord stories i've ever heard! (no gas, no hot water, no mailbox). then off to draft where cc's homie joe had a lil area to himself. i like draft - they play the typical hip hop garbage that i love to dance to and i always enjoy hangin w cc's crew.

saturday- repeat, drinks (at james') and to k&m where brit and his roomie were spinnin. this eve ended in 2am frozen pizza/lasagna and an avocado (!!?) which i ended up bringing to work today. before that, an early dinner showcased the most epic barf nap ever! @ calexico.

sunday entailed a much needed visit to teddys for brunch and a movie in whitestone! the change up which was pretty effing funny although a bit of the day was a blur due to a crispy treat.

homesick

been feelin a lil homesick recently and my friend from home any sealed the deal when he posted a wiki entry for opryland. i spent a great part of the 80's there w my whole fam and grade school friends and boy did i click the link and get all types of emotional. the pics of the deserted parts of the park that still stand (which will be completely gone this year for the asshole hotel expansion, which is a further extension of the SHOPPING MALL they built they built when they leveled opryland) are eerie and sad to me, but they do bring back some rad memories as well. good ole nashville how i miss you sometimes.

the dirty jerz

first day back to work from a mini 3 day vaca. I have to say coming back on a thursday is the way to go. only a 2 day work week is key after vaca so as not to commit self harm. the shore was lovely! being an old beach couple was my fav part, wake up, eat breakfast, go to beach, eat lunch on break, go back to beach, shower, eat dinner repeat. :) I took VERY limited photos which is a bummer but its all in the noggin, esp the boardwalk food extravaganza and the extended jersey vaca red robbin/amc theatre trip where we saw crazy stupid love. love the movie, love the cast! a few highlights: the asshole scene in the classroom and the mini golf/backyard scene. go see it, its cute, funny and will make you feel all sappy-angry. trip highlights: meeting cc's bff, ice cream at hobby horse, uncle bill's pancake house, my blue inner tube, EPIC dinner w nick/cc at the deauville and at gregorys!

happy almost fryday
