woke up starving today!

not sure why i am shocked but i am starved today!! wow. must've been watching food network/bravo chef shows but i can't receive my bacon egg and cheese sandwch quick enough! i think i made myself another section in the stomach when i ate my way through seattle/orcas island!? oh well... feed the beast.

bald eagles, blue heron, baby deer...

wow!! visiting the orcas islands (off the coast of seattle) i saw more animals than you can shake a stick at! and ate my way through the pnw. i don't even know where to begin. since i love animals as much as food i shall start with the creatures! i saw the following and prob some more i can't remember:

+ orca whales (one that blow hole'd me and my crew) so close to the boat i could have touched him

+ a beautiful blue heron

+ bald eagle

+ beautiful horses (we went ridin')

+ star fish

+ GIANT salmon (r.i.p after "onyx" the whale had his mid afternoon snack)

+ crazy (poisonous looking) spiders

+ marments (not sure what these are really called but while i was kayaking i saw a cute furry... something snatch a crab right out of the water and run for it )

+ deer

i'm sure i am forgetting something! but what i didn't forget was breakfast at beth's cafe 7311 aurora ave seattle, wa 98103 206.782.5588 in the city before we left for the island. this joint was on food network as they have a 12 egg omelette and eating competition. unfortunately we only ordered a 6 egg'er at our table but m was too pansy to finish :( alex on the other hand has been dubbed clean plate alex and i am super impressed with his skills at licking a plate clean! this breakfast was no joke! equally as impressive was steelhead diner 95 pine st seattle, wa 98101 206.625.0129 this place was a recco of the front desk chick and was stellar. we sat outside on a balcony with perfect weather and perfect food! i had an amazing cobb salad, we also shared fried chicken spring rolls! although fried- wrapped in healthy thin rice paper and topped with pickled amazingness. this place had drool worthy food all over the place. m had fish tacos and i ate about half of them. ME- ate fish tacos! catfish to be precise. also had some local chowder that we shared which was fresh and deelish!

what else can i tell you? i took my first ferry (complete with the rental car and all!) i love new adventures and new modes of transportation that i have never taken. we stayed in the most beautiful inn: outlook inn 171 main st eastsound, wa 98245 360.376.2200 take a gander at my morning wake-up view from the bed! the new leaf cafe in the hotel (right in front with a porch and water view) has amazing breakfast as well. do yourself a favor and try the french toast. this island was so amazing and stuck in a time warp. no sirens, no rushing, no pollution. everyone has just the necessities and lives like they are CHiLlin' 24/7 (because they are). pictures can't describe the beauty and the fun i had with the gang! amazing trip! thanks m!!!!!!

too much sleep (is that possible)

last night (for the 100th time) liz and i had la nonna 237 bedford (at north 4th) 718.302.5353 i will continue to write about this place and give the info each and every time as it is so damn good. always quality and never has pissed me off! i have a new obsession and got it for only the 2nd time last night but am in love. its called the pizze something or other... i just looked on menupages for the exact name and its not even on the web so its a hidden secret surprise! its described on the in house menu as a "tower of breaded fried eggplant, tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil... its INSANE and each time a server has brought it to me they tell me its their fav. i have a pic here of only HALF of the tower bc i snarfed it quicker than garfield; its a giant portion (obvi). yummmm. that on top of chicken with mushroom, artichoke and ham in a wine sauce may be what put me to bed by 11pm. that and my lover that slept on my chest.... who could resist that face! even if you're not a cat person, or are deathly allergic!?? i got 8+ hours of sleep and i guess now i am awake-- but i think that's partly due to coffee/red bull combo!!

perhaps the fancy people at the emmy's last night made me want to get pwetty? liz decided to do my makeup at about 10:30pm and while the shitty iphone pic doesn't do justice it looked pretty nice. i still have fake eyelashes on at the moment and am giggling at work bc for those who don't immediately notice- they are staring and can't figure out what's different and keep asking, it's kind of amusing. maybe each day i'll do something subtle like this-- a fake beauty mark here, a fake eye color there....

red bamboo

last night i had red bamboo 271 adelphi (at de kalb) 718.643.4352 yumyum on this no meat haven. i had chicken crisp "nuggets" and steamed veggies w mashed potatos and a side of mac and cheese! mac and chee was my fav along with the mash. i like real chicken too much and was weirded out by how they made the tofu (or whatever substitute) look like chicken. it was all deelish but i need for real chicken next time! aside from that i watched some house hunters, some americas next top model and a premiere of TBL (the beautiful life). about models in nyc (*not reality just another cw network special). if i remember to catch it next time i'll watch-- not that it was all that good but once i see the premiere episode of one of these things i am generally hooked-- tough sell i am huh? just looked it up and ashton kutcher is a "creator" of this series. can't decide if that makes me more mad or... what?

nuthin' says morning pain like...

fried oreo's and sausage and peppers from the san gennaro FEASt in lil italy (all along mulberry street)!! last nite i had a bit of the following: sausage and peppers, fried cheese ravioli, artichoke (FILLEd w breadcrumbs that i thought you were just supposed to eat w a fork but that was a bit intense * no dre there are SOME "healthy" items at san g as well- it was a steamed artichoke and you were to eat it as normal w only a few bread crumbs), salad, eggplant parm and a fried oreo! it was fun to stroll around and since it was about 7:30 it wasn't packed at all. it was a nice night and a good one for a feast! mmm

i love you man

last night i got a small pizza and a side of meat balls and watched some tv with cole while i took over 117 gates. later watched 'i love you man' which was surprisingly funny. maybe i was just in a good mood but it was pretty damn laughable. i reallly like jason segel- he's a doll and a great actor for these kind of humorous flicks. couldn't place him in anything else til i imbd'ed him- he's also in: forgetting sarah marshall, knocked up, dead man on campus. of COURSE i fell asleep in the last 30 mins or so, so i'll have to catch the end this eve. feelin a bit better today thanks, still can't fully breathe but ya know-- i'm sure being chained to a desk all day will make me better! i think i am sick bc i am so damn bitter about the summer ending, turning 30 soon, and my cats ruining my life. boooooo hooooo. as my friend alex would say- someone call a whambulance.

flu flu go away!

just in time for friday/the weekend i got super duper sick! yay! barely got out of bed all weekend til i forced my self to take a super hot shower and try ti enjoy a few hours of the day yesterday since the weather was amazing and i know there wont be many more 80 degree sunny days. i managed to take a really short stroll and spend $90 on a fall coat thingy (short sleeves) that i prob wont ever wear! i can't be blamed for bad decisions when i am impaired to the sickly point i was! my super powers are gone when i am sick. when i can't taste or smell- all best are off. my senses and all logic are gone. having a cold and not being able to smell/taste is like my kryptonite. anyhoo- i managed to watch the pelican brief (quality film), the education of charlie banks (new release at bbuster), the mtv vma's, kourtney and khloe in miami, and some other crap i can't recall while in bed/sofa. thanks to mj and cole i made it through the weekend alive! much love!

tofu dreams

while trying desperately to keep with my no red meat detox (aside from the fact that i ate some beef jerky- oops) i had veggie tofu stir fry fer dinner- twas delicious, oh and some edamame shumai (steamed dumplings). however i had CRAZY dreams/nightmares! i can only vividly recall one at thins point but i know i had 2 or 3 and each one woke me up. in the one i recall, i was at work/play in san diego where i was on a work trip w lara, jen weeks and my old boss and some new bosses that i don't really know in real life. we were at some sort of resort when instead of an elevator and rickety old wooden thing like window washers use was there (complete with light up sign that said '4th floor'). i took one look and was no thanks but jen (who is quite the daredevil in real life) jumped right on by herself. i watched as it started to move and then halfway down it stopped working and fell to the ground really fast. i was freaking out and then BOOM, it hit the ground. jen was all sorts of fuc*ed up with a broken bent up arm AND leg. i was yelling to her to "stay still, i'm calling the proper 911 authorities etc..." but she refused, jumped up and was yelling and flipping the bird and screaming F you to hotel staff that were on the ground floor (typical jen- this is prob exactly what she'd do in real life). i miss jen- maybe that's why i had the dream but it was nuts and scawwy!

HABITAT

already can't wait to go back to habitat! 988 manhattan ave (near huron st) 718.383.5615 all i had last night was a cobb salad but boy was it amazing! i drooled over other diners' waffle fries and enjoyed some spinach dip (rivaling houston's mind you). good company and good drinks also made the dinner even more deelish! mmmm. :) trying very hard to avoid red meat after the stomach debacle of labor day's over eaters anon! it's vewwwy hard!! too bad i don't have my wee little biz cards yet or i'd have laid one out on tha table like BAM! you've been bloggied!

end of summer weekend (depression)

lar lar (or ban ban as i also now call her) and i were off the the lamptons (aka the hamptons-said in an english snotty voice). we had to wait for lar to lock down a wsj article, hand oprah a piece of her mind and coach someone through an interview first though. gah lar... kidding. lar's o.gness can not be explained or surpassed by many. and i could not ask for a better travel buddy! which says a lot- i don't be travelin' w just anyone! you have to be on my food level, level of lazy, level of active and ready to just chill. lar lar is all of those and the best partner in crime. i have to shout out fred and bunny bc if it weren't for them, we'd have been very lost the whole time as we drove through each "hampton" multiple times a day. the weather was beauty and so were the people obvi. wow. its def a different world out there. i pool hopped some amazing houses, saw some crazy vanity plates (in case you can't read- the pic above is a hummer w a "sovane" plate!), witnessed choreographed man dances (that were actually quite enjoyable) and drank champagne from honey i blew up the kids (that came with their very own bottle whore complete with sparklers and a stupid dance!!). i enjoyed the above festivities at lilly pond/phillippe chow 44 3 mile harbor rd east hampton ny 11937 631.907.0250 (food was redic). umm, be sure to call ahead to say the least. crazy "famous" people were dining and the place as packed! am i leaving out anything? hmmm i think the biggest problem you come across in the hamptons is: "sh*t! the top to the bently is down and its raining!" hmm what else? everyone's ridiculous dog collections. i saw 2 of the most amazing great dane puppies (3 months and they were already the size of a big ass dog). i am sure i'll remember more additions to the amazing weekend and will add them accordingly.

i ate my way thru the hamps w lar and on the way home found slo jacks 212 w montauk hwy hampton bays, ny 11946  631.728.9601 holy fat farm! i got a chili dog and a burger w fries AND a bronie sundae. hmmmm wonder whay i was up from 3-7am and all day with the worst heart burn and crazy feeling stomach ever!?? so bad that i took off work today! i never do that! and the best?lara was off to phoenix for a steve nash shoot for vwater and everyone thought we just decided to take another day in the hamps! classic.

BOLT

last night i finished watching bolt. while i was a wee bit toasted i remember that i really like it and that the hamster is my FAV. he's a little tubby fella that's just got the greatest disposition. he also loves food :) and rolls around in his super fast plastic ball. the flick is terribly cute and so are all the characters.

since i was super lit i imbibed most everything in m's kitchen. and wow- still feelin it! twas worth it- felt like i was in high school.

off to the lamptons this weekend! happy holiday

this may look like a regular bed to some, but examine and you may find that it is in fact the gate to heaven!? the beautiful boudoir pictured is the one and only lar lar's. this bed made me sleep so well and have such vivid dreams that i refused to get out of it this am. and that says a lot considering i am very o.c.d about my schedule in the am and refuse to arrive to work any later than 8:45. i am still asleep actually, and refuse to wake up. i even dreamt abt lar- in my dream she and i woke up to a knock on her door and it was her entourage of 3 stylists to wake her and dress her for her day/the week. they had tons of clothes, garment bags and accessories. i think i dreamt this bc she looks so great ev day and i refuse to believe that she does her own hair/clothes etc.... anyhow--- i am in love w lar and her bed/house.

in other news, lar lar's computer scared her last night and although this pic is blurry you can tell she was hiding from her laptop! it's ok- i was there to comfort her.

can't wait til tomorrow- we are off to vaca in the lamptons!

who has good taste!?? serkin does! even though i was pimpin' these shoes back in july... my fav chick is pimpin em now (october 2009 issue of glamour)- too bad i only paid about $29 bucks and she...well she prob paid at least $290.00- sure hers are "real" whatev they are?? i don't even know who they are a rip off of but i aint' a label snob.

note the 'self' magazine by my desk! highly doubt they advise eating 6 pies- even if one of em is a salad pie....

tofu and tears

last night i had rice 166 dekalb 718.858.2700. i completely forgot how amazing this place is. they have a few brooklyn locations and one in "nolita" in tha city. yummmm. i am clearly in the midst of some sort of emotional explosion/meltdown as i had tofu steak with black rice and when i watched a straight to dvd movie entitled camille (with sienna miller, james franco and david carradine) i weeped like a kid being left at school for the first time in first grade (or some small child in hysterics). ok, i also had mexican chicken soup which was to die... pictured here. wow. i can't say if my emotional state is causing me to think this is an amazing movie (even though i have never heard of it before last night) but i will stick to my story. it's a love story of sorts and even thinking about it now makes me wanna shed a tear. sienna miller is one of the most beatuies in the industry i think and while she's kinda (eh) at acting i think she was pretty amazing in this! the makeup is really great and somehow actually makes her look "normal" and or homely as she plays a down south peanut brain. i won't ruin it for anyone so go rent it/netflix.... oh, and james franco is obvi amazingly handsome! 

nothing but some pee pee

last eve was pretty uneventful. a trip to target (pronounced tar-jey) and home to enjoy a shower only to get cozy in my room and find my favorite cat had left his favorite mark on my bed (again). i can't deal. he's old and is my baby but i am not sure i can afford to run to the laundry mat and pay $35 each time he ruins my sheets, feather bed, and both quilts. i fear the worst and know i can't give him up but somethin's gotta give KITTY! mug shot attached.
